Christine was elected as the MP for Edinburgh West in 2017 and is currently the MP representative on Federal Board. Before being elected she was on the executive of the Scottish Party and during the coalition was a Special Adviser.
Her current role in the Shadow Cabinet is to cover the Home Affairs brief but also has responsibility for women and equalities. A seat at that table would allow her to ensure that the membership’s view is central to the vision the party is creating.
As a former journalist she has well developed communication skills and has taken a major role in presenting the party’s vision in the media.
She said; “As President I would focus on being the voice of the membership, ensuring the views of the SAOs and board were reflected both to the leadership and on the media.
“I think having a president with an established public profile would also allow us to have a strong and experienced voice representing the party in the media.”
Christine is originally from Clydebank but has also lived in, and been a party member in Inverness, Aberdeen and Edinburgh.
